About My Embodied Archetypal & Conceptual Photography Journeys
How does it work?
An archetypal or conceptual journey with me is "not just a photoshoot". It is a personal project of self-development and healing, with guidance, holding and witnessing along the way. The embodied photoshoot is the culmination of the work you do before it rather than being a stand alone event.
You may be stepping into a part of yourself that you yearn to have witnessed. It may be a vision you wish to create and manifest for yourself. It may be a story you wish to let go of as you navigate a time of change in your life. It may be all of these things or something completely different.
You can approach this journey in any way you wish to and I adapt my resources and tailor my sessions to you directly.
To help you deepen into the personal work you are doing, I offer a personalised meditation, journaling prompts and embodiment guidance, and these are pivotal parts of the journey, however the depth of your exploration prior to your photoshoot is up to you. You go as deep as you are comfortable to.
There are two Zoom calls during the journey, an opening call (to discuss the area you wish to work), and a vision call to (talk about all that is unfolding and how you wish your photoshoot to look as well as to be a space for you to voice any worries, anxieties or concerns you may have). I invite you to bring all of yourself to these sessions.
I encourage giving yourself a month (or more!) from your opening call to the date of your photoshoot.
While I am open to providing the playlist for your final session, I strongly encourage you to create your own, this music is what will guide your movement and expression, it provides the backdrop for the story you are telling, it is the vision you are manifesting and only you can tailor that perfectly to the journey you wish to take. You may prefer not to have a playlist and to allow the sounds of nature to permeate your being as you move into an embodiment of this part of yourself. I encourage you to listen deeply to what you need and trust your own inner guidance.
"There is a voice that doesn't use words. Listen."- Rumi
I welcome you to share as much or as little of your journey as you wish with me as you go along. I am here to witness your journey as well as capture the final photoshoot. Your photoshoot is the culmination of your work. I witness your expression, offering a documentary perspective on embodied portrait photography which results in images that reflect you, back to you!
I am not a 'traditional' photographer, nor am I a teacher. I am a gentle guide, witness and artist.
"Your skills on a creative artistic level are phenomenal, but the deeper skills within you to take people on a profound deep journey of connection is phenomenal! I rarely meet people who get to that core of me, but you have really touched that deep emotion Lela and I’m so grateful.”
What is key about the photoshoots with me with me is that they involve embodied movement, intuitive dance and are directed by you. You lead. Your soul leads. I will not tell you how to move, I will not pose you or direct your expression. A session with me is about you trusting yourself, empowering yourself, knowing that your soul knows how it wishes to be seen. If I were to direct you and tell you what to do, would this be an authentic expression from your soul to the outer world? Your dance journey, and vulnerable willingness to show yourself and be seen, can can result in powerful personal healing.
I welcome you to come back home to yourself, to honour yourself and revere yourself as the sacred being that you are.
“It is not only the photoshoot but the journey you take to get there.”
“Life-changing; a journey of self-discovery and self-actualisation.”
“This journey is ongoing for me.”
I believe it is important to hear from other people who have embarked on such personal and vulnerable journeys with me in order to make a decision as to if you feel to trust me with your vision and your vulnerability.
Naturally there is likely to be many questions around this work. Is it normal to feel anxious? do I have to have music? Where will we work? Will it be private? These are just a few things you may want to know before deciding if this is for you.
You can view my clients pages here, where I not only share the art work created but give a space for you to share anything you wish to along with your images. It is a place to share and tell your story, to pull together all the loose ends and see in physical form the journey you have been on.
